3 Overlooked Places to Implement Branding
Your brand shows up everywhere. Most people are aware that a brand is more than a logo, but have you considered the full array of implications that your brand carries?
Just like an idea takes root, your brand is also present in every part of your company’s existence. It’s not just contained to the design of your website or the content on your social media pages. It’s ingrained in everywhere your company shows up, like documents, communication, or internal processes, becoming an integral part of every interaction. While your brand identity is what is seen and felt, branding is a compilation of your visuals AND presence.
I am continuously becoming aware of ways that I can integrate elements of Enthuse Creative throughout my presence and where our team shows up. Branding isn’t an end goal, but a consistent, cyclical process. As your brand evolves, new opportunities to manifest its essence will inevitably surface. It’s important to take advantage of these discoveries to create consistency and deepen the value of your brand.
As your brand expands its reach, consider all the ways you can create brand touchpoints. I sign off with “Enthusiastically” or “With Enthusiasm”, one subtle way to circle back into the brand. I once had a partner say, “I love getting emails from you because of your signature line, it’s such a nice touch and pleasant thing to read.”
What are subtle ways you can embed your brand identity or personality? It’s like a smile from the person at the front desk of your favorite hotel or place of service. How can your brand show up that way to prospects, partners, and clients?
Here are three subtle but powerful places you can implement your branding:
Business Documents
How many different documents does your business use every day? Like invoices, proposals, reports, even contracts. These documents are a great way to implement your brand’s language. Elements of your brand personality, like signature quotes or a tagline, are small ways you can foster a brand presence for your audience.
For practice, draft documents or adjust previous ones to match your brand voice and add in these subtle nods. Try changing two to three words in each sentence and notice the difference in tone. When implementing these adjustments, you will further build a stronger identity in your audience’s mind, and they’ll be unconscious to it.
Communication
Think about all the ways you and your team interact with others. Do you email clients? What about meet over Zoom? Do you respond to Instagram or LinkedIn comments? Or maybe you see your audience in person the most.
No matter what medium, communication with your clients is a great way to further implement your brand personality. For example, on a video chat, you could add an emoji or two to your name. Customize your digital signature at the end of your emails. When responding to comments or direct messages, make sure your diction is in line with your brand language.
Even though the informality of social media and personal interactions can contrast with formal documents, preserving consistency in your brand personality is pivotal. You might use an exclamation on social media and not in a proposal, but make sure your tone and word choices are similar.
Internal Processes
Branding starts from within, and that means from how you interact and work with your team. Even if your business is a sole proprietor or consulting, branding begins with how you navigate your workspace.
What kind of culture does your business provide for your team? Do you empower your employees? Maybe it is very collaborative, or independent. Think of moments like team meetings, emails, or even lunches. Your brand should be in line with the way you and your team interact and work together.
Like every part of your brand identity, your brand should be consistent and clear, even in these overlooked places. Consider how you, your team, and your business shows up in these areas to further develop your brand.
Ideas become concrete realities through implementation and integration. The more places you can apply your brand, the stronger your brand will grow.
