Introduction
Branding isn’t just for corporate businesses or influencers. A brand’s design sets the tone and reputation for any name of a company, organization, or person.
Imperial Brass is a British-style brass band located in Westfield, NJ, performing across the state and recording CDs of their music. Though they have been part of the state’s history for over 30 years, they sought to modernize their logo to reflect a contemporary growth while keeping a classic, timeless identity.
The Problem
While Imperial Brass has established a strong, positive reputation, they remained stagnant in terms of modernization and growth, realizing their branding had not changed to fit newer audiences. They reached out to Enthuse Creative to redesign their logo and brand style, having a vision of change, but needing us to carry it out.
The Process
Enthuse Creative met with Imperial Brass to discuss the band’s goals for their rebranding, and what exactly they wanted rebranded. This ended up being their logo, color scheme, and font usage.
We worked to enhance their original message by conforming the style of their brand to something simple and recognizable, but with significant meaning behind the symbolism.
The shapes we used, while straightforward, also held meaning toward the band. There are eleven diamonds underneath the “Imperial Brass” name that represent the eleven key instruments played in the band. Additionally, while it looks like brass valves on an instrument, the shape next to the band’s name also looks like a crown, evoking the regal-theme to the organization’s name.
The color palette only consists of two shades, Royal Blue and Imperial Gold, which also fall under the regal, king-like theme. With only two colors, the scheme is easily transferable to other websites, social media, prints, or even apparel. The logo could even be converted to a one-color version, making it even easier to use in different formats.
Results
Imperial Brass has successfully carried out this rebranding to their websites, uniforms, and other media, proving the ease of access and transferability. Since they have rebranded with us from 2021 through 2022, they have felt that their initial regal theme has been translated into something modern, reflecting their growth as a band into over 30 years of performances.
In a testimony, they have stated, “Imperial Brass reached out to Enthuse Creative at the recommendation of one of our colleagues at another prominent NJ ensemble. Reggie was responsive, positive, and enthusiastic and provided all of the support we could have asked for on our recent rebranding project, Highly recommended!”
